Efficiently Erase Recently Viewed Files in Windows 10- A Step-by-Step Guide
How to Remove Recent View Files in Windows 10
In Windows 10, the recent view feature allows users to quickly access files they have recently opened. However, this feature can sometimes clutter your file explorer and make it difficult to find the files you need. If you’re looking to remove recent view files in Windows 10, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you out.
Step 1: Open File Explorer
To begin, open File Explorer by clicking on the folder icon in the taskbar or by pressing the Windows key + E on your keyboard.
Step 2: Access the View Tab
Once File Explorer is open, click on the “View” tab at the top of the window. This tab contains various options to customize the appearance and behavior of File Explorer.
Step 3: Clear Recent Files
In the “View” tab, you will see a group of options on the right side of the window. Click on the “Clear” button next to “Show recently used files in Quick Access.” This will clear the list of recently viewed files from the Quick Access section.
Step 4: Clear Recent Folders
If you also want to remove recently viewed folders, click on the “Clear” button next to “Show recently used folders in Quick Access.” This will clear the list of recently viewed folders from the Quick Access section.
Step 5: Disable Recent Files and Folders
To prevent the recent files and folders from appearing in the Quick Access section in the future, you can disable this feature. In the “View” tab, click on the “Options” button at the bottom right corner of the window. In the “General” tab of the File Explorer Options dialog box, uncheck the “Show recently used files in Quick Access” and “Show recently used folders in Quick Access” options. Click “OK” to save the changes.
Step 6: Reset File Explorer
If you want to reset File Explorer to its default settings, including disabling the recent view feature, you can do so by opening the File Explorer Options dialog box (as mentioned in Step 5) and clicking on the “Reset” button at the bottom of the “General” tab. This will reset File Explorer to its default settings, and the recent view feature will be disabled.
By following these steps, you can easily remove recent view files in Windows 10 and keep your File Explorer organized and clutter-free.
